Welcome to the National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns or NAMRC! As President and on behalf of our Board and our members, I want to thank you for your interest in our organization. We are a division of the National Rehabilitation Association and specifically dedicated to increasing the diversity within the rehabilitation community. We know that many of our communities include persons with disabilities who have not been particularly well served by rehabilitation. Part of our mission is to advocate and eliminate disparities that may exist for persons of color in accessing and participating in rehabilitation programs.

We are here also to serve our members (most of whom work as rehabilitation professionals) by offering a forum for learning and community. We have an annual training conference that is truly multicultural in content and participants. This year’s theme is “Focusing the Future: Realizing Multicultural Rehabilitation Outcomes” and will be in San Antonio, Texas from July 20-24. The conference is not only a time for learning but also a time of community where participants can renew acquaintances and make new friends. NAMRC prides itself as being a family where you feel comfortable and welcome.

Feel free to let all of us know if you have questions, comments, or any feedback that will help us to be a better organization and force within rehabilitation. Our newsletter is available on line as well as hard copy. If you want a copy, let me know or if you want to join, let me know. We will be updating and redesigning our website to better serve you.
Thanks for your interest.

Paul Leung, Ph.D., CRC
